What is Michigan's "Basic Drive Improvement Course" (BDIC)?
A Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDIC) serves as a refresher of the basic skills and rules of the road needed to drive safely in Michigan. By passing a BDIC, drivers are given the opportunity to avoid points on their records and increases in insurance premiums while brushing up on their driver safety. Drivers must be eligible to take the program and can only use a BDIC to avoid points on their driving record once.
Who is eligible for the program?
If you've received a traffic ticket in Michigan on or after December 31, 2010, you may be eligible to take our BDI Course. The Michigan Department of State (DOS) will notify you by mail if you are eligible. Requirements for eligibility include:

- The traffic violation cannot be committed in a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
- The traffic violation cannot be for a criminal offense.
